Microsoft and AWS have introduced interoperable services for provisioning private, high-performance connections between their clouds. The standardized architecture supports Azure Private Link, MACsec protection, four-nines availability and capacity up to 100 Gbps at general availability. - What changed: Cross-cloud connectivity can be provisioned through coordinated cloud-native services instead of manually assembling multiple networking components.
- Why it matters: AI applications can privately access data or services distributed between Azure and AWS with less networking complexity.
- Practical takeaway: For a multicloud design, document latency, egress cost, route failover and data-residency requirements before deciding whether this is preferable to VPN or existing dedicated-circuit arrangements.
